ANN ARBOR, February 7, 2006 -- When Bob Burnside opened the doors of Fireside Home Construction 10 years ago, he was committed to building high quality, sustainable and energy efficient custom homes.  This commitment to Green Building and quality craftsmanship helped Fireside win the Silver EnergyValue Housing Award -- in the Cold Climate/Custom Homes category-- from the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) Research Institute.

The EnergyValue Housing Award (EVHA) annually recognizes a handful of builders nationwide who voluntarily incorporate energy efficiency into the design, construction and marketing of their new homes.  It also serves to educate both the home building and the public about successful approaches to energy-efficient and environmentally conscious construction practices.  Fireside was a winner out of 400 entrants.

According to the EVHA judges, "Fireside Home Construction is a very dedicated builder that has a good focus on energy efficiency. This focus is reflected in its Mission Statement: ‘to build premium quality timber frame homes for customers who seek high quality, energy efficient and sustainable housing.'"

Fireside's 7,000 square foot custom timber frame home, located in Dexter, Michigan, features many energy efficient and green building principals.  These elements can be found in the home's foundation, walls, roof, windows, appliances, HVAC system and even in the air ducts.  The home is so efficient that the average monthly heating, cooling and hot water bill is a mere $63.00
