It’s All About The Details – Timber Frame Home in Ann Arbor

In the video below we show you some of the little details we are doing to ensure a durable, long-lasting, and warm & cozy home for our clients.

Sound insulation, sanding joints and studs, marking electrical outlets before drywall, etc...

We build/remodel every house like it’s our own and you can see some of the ways we do that in the video below.

Attention To Detail

Rod our Crew Leader shares some of his thoughts on the attention to detail we have on each of our clients projects.

“Hopefully they realize the difference these things are going to make to their home.”

Details Are What It Is All About

Take a look at this video to see some of the details we take to ensure tight, clean, water proof window installation:

"You have one of the leaders in green building..." - Matt Libby, USGBC

We recently spoke with Matt Libby from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC.)

As you may know, Fireside Home Construction built the first LEED Platinum home in Michigan (and has built a second one since that time.)

The LEED program is controlled and conducted through the U.S. Green Building Council – with the Platinum level being their highest honor.

We’d love for you to learn more about what LEED Certification is and what it means. Here is a great website where you can learn more.

Below is a brief interview we conducted with Matt from the USGBC

Passive Home – Do you have any questions?

When we were out in Portland, OR for the The Energy & Environmental Building Alliance (EEBA) show, we stopped and visited a Passive Solar home.

This had 10” of insulation on the outside, triple pain windows, heat recovery ventilator – it’s costing almost nothing to heat this home. We recorded a little video when we were there – you can view that below.

Is this a topic that is of interest to you? Do you have any questions regarding Passive homes or green building? Please don’t hesitate to reach out and contact us – we are happy to answer your questions and be a resource for you!

Always Learning New Things for You

Here at Fireside Home Construction we invest a lot of time and effort into continuing our education on the latest building technologies and green building products and techniques. We are always excited to hear and learn new things that we can then bring back to our clients!

One way we do this is by going to The Energy & Environmental Building Alliance (EEBA) show each year. We’ve done this for 15 straight years with the last one being out in Portland, OR.

Here’s a quick video from the event:

One Of My Favorite Things

One of my favorite things (and one of the more important things I do) - Is 'Management By Wandering Around!' I like to say: You show me a builder who is absentee and not on the jobsite and I’ll show you a mess!

This video, among other things, illustrates the cleanliness of our jobsites. Something that we take great pride in.

Bottom line, when you ask questions and find clarifications and make sure your jobsites are neat and tidy – you are going to end up with a much better job and one that you, as the homeowners and we, as the builder, can be proud of.

It's all about the little things

A successful building or remodeling project happens when all of the 'little things' are done just right.

The job is planned out properly, materials are selected and delivered before they are needed, communication between the client/designer/builder and trades craftspeople is timely, and potential problems are thought about and corrected before they happen.

We have two short videos we'd like you to watch below. Both illustrate very clearly how proper planning ensures that the job is completed at the highest level of quality and is delivered on schedule and on budget.

At Fireside Home Construction we obsess over 'the little things' - it's the best way to ensure our clients are 100% Satisfied & Happy!

We heard that sometimes Skylights can leak...

We heard that sometimes Skylights can leak - we don't want that to happen! Here's what we do to prevent that from ever being an issue:

Build it tight and ventilate it right

"Build it tight and ventilate it right" is one of our motto's here at Fireside Home Construction.

This video gives a pretty vivid example of that motto in action:

Our Foundation Of Choice

And another way with with a product that has the drainage built right into the foundation (Product we use is called Form-A-Drain.) No need to put 2x12’s or 2x10’s up just to throw them away later:

We are always looking for more efficient ways to build you a wonderful home!
